The Netherlands market for affiliates
The Netherlands opened a licensed online market in October 2021 under the Remote Gambling Act, supervised by the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA). Untargeted advertising has been banned since July 2023, sponsorship is being phased out, and the regulator treats affiliates as advertisers who must meet the same rules as licensees, including the ban on marketing to anyone under 24 and the 2024 deposit limits.
- Targeted channels only: the untargeted ban removes most mass media, out-of-home and open-web display. Owned content, email to verified adults and search remain.
- The KSA has acted against affiliate sites directly. Build your Dutch pages as if the regulator will read them, because it does.
- Only KSA-licensed brands may take Dutch players. Any offshore brand accepting Netherlands traffic is operating against the regulator's blocklist.
