What is an iGaming affiliate network?

An iGaming affiliate network sits between casinos and the affiliates who send them players. What it does, how it earns, and how it differs from going direct.

The short answer

An iGaming affiliate network is a company that holds commercial agreements with many casino operators and makes them available to affiliates through one account. You apply once and are approved once. From then on you work with whichever casinos the network gives you access to, under one contract, in one dashboard, with one monthly payment, however many brands your traffic reaches.

The network is not the casino. The operator runs the games, holds the licence and owns the player account. The network sits between the operator and you: it agrees the deal with the casino, issues your tracking links, receives the casino's conversion reports, and pays you.

Operator, programme and network

Three words get used interchangeably and mean different things. Knowing which one you are dealing with tells you who sets your terms and who pays you.

TermWhat it isWho sets your terms
OperatorThe casino itself. It holds the licence, runs the games and owns the relationship with the player.Nobody, directly. An operator reaches affiliates through a programme.
Affiliate programmeOne operator's own scheme for paying affiliates, covering one brand or a small group of them. The operator, brand by brand.
Affiliate networkOne company aggregating many operators' programmes behind a single account. The network, per casino, within what each operator allows.

What a network actually does

  • Negotiates with each casino and passes the terms on to you per casino, so you do not hold a separate negotiation with every brand.
  • Runs the tracking. It issues your tracking links, receives each casino's conversion reports by server-to-server postback, and matches every conversion to the click that produced it. How affiliate tracking works covers the mechanics.
  • Consolidates reporting. Clicks, registrations, first deposits and commission for every casino you run sit in one place instead of a dozen operator dashboards.
  • Consolidates payment. Balances from every casino roll into one monthly payout, which is why a network partner usually clears a payout threshold sooner than the same traffic split across direct programmes.
  • Sets the rules per casino. Which markets and traffic channels each casino accepts, and what it prohibits, comes through the network as one set of terms you can check before you run anything.
  • Gives you a person. An account manager who knows your traffic, places you on the casinos that fit it, and is who you go to when something stops converting.

How a network is paid

A network earns the difference between what the casino pays it for a player and what it pays you for that player. That is the whole business, and it is worth saying plainly, because it answers the question every affiliate asks: why would a network pay me as much as the casino would directly?

At the very top of the volume curve, it sometimes does not, and a large affiliate can do better going direct to the few brands that matter to them. Below that, a network negotiates as one large partner instead of many small ones, and passes part of that leverage back. The deal you are offered through a network can therefore beat the deal the same casino would offer you alone, which is the opposite of what the margin suggests.

Most affiliates end up with a mix: a network for breadth, direct deals with the one or two brands where their volume earns special terms. The full decision, with the trade-offs worked through, is in do you need an affiliate network?.

What to check before you join one

  • How conversions are confirmed. Ask when a first deposit becomes payable commission, and what happens to one the casino later rejects.
  • The payout terms. The minimum amount, any volume floor, the payment schedule and the methods. Read them in the programme terms, not in a sales message.
  • Negative carryover. On a revenue share, whether a losing month is carried into the next one or zeroed. How RevShare is calculated explains why this matters more than the headline percentage.
  • Tracking. Whether conversions arrive by server-to-server postback or by a browser pixel. Postbacks lose far fewer conversions.
  • Channel and market rules. Which channels each casino prohibits. Running a prohibited one can void commission you have already earned.

How TopStep Partners works

TopStep Partners is an iGaming affiliate network. You apply once, and your account manager gives you access to the casinos that fit your traffic, with a deal set per casino: up to €450 per first deposit on CPA and up to 50% on RevShare, both programme maximums rather than the rate everyone is offered. Each casino comes with its own tracking link, conversions are verified once the month closes, and the confirmed balance is paid monthly in crypto.

Which markets and channels our casinos accept is public on the programme coverage pages, the binding terms are in the programme terms, and the application takes a few minutes on the registration page.

Common questions

No. An affiliate programme belongs to one operator and covers its own brands. An affiliate network aggregates many operators' programmes behind one account, so you work with all of them under one contract, one dashboard and one payment.

Not necessarily. A network keeps a margin between what the casino pays it and what it pays you, but it negotiates as one large partner, so the deal it can pass on often beats what a small or mid-sized affiliate would be offered alone. At very high volume on a single brand, going direct can pay more.

Yes, most affiliates do. What to avoid is running the same casino through two routes at once: only one tracking link can be credited for a player, and the terms of either route may prohibit it.

The casino. A player registers an account with the operator, not with you or the network. You earn on that player under the deal you agreed, for as long as the deal says you do.
